Is your business ready for 2020? It is a new year and we all are ready to start selling, but where do you start with your marketing. Here is 5 Marketing Tips for 2020 for your business
1. Get a Digital Office
What is a digital office you ask? This is your website and likely your potential clients first point of contact. This is what people see, and this is what creates first impression.
Make sure your website is active with new and relevant information. Your site must have content that your potential clients can relate to. Here is a list of must have features on your website:
- Mobile friendly & User Friendly.
- Product and services info (incl. costs or how do you charge).
- Easy contact info or chat links (Example Whatsapp link).
- Video Intro of your business or video tutorials how to use your product.(See tip 3)
- SEO (Search engine optimization or your google ranking) .
- Testimonials (This shows people you can be trusted)
- If possible have an interactive site.
Here is Ragefire Marketing’s top of the home page as an example. As you see we kept it basic asking questions relevant to the client, and with easy ways to contact us. See the Whatsapp, Facebook, and email link, as well as the Contact us menu option. See the rest of our site for other examples.
2 . The power of Networking
Very few businesses use business networking to their advantage, but it is easier than you think. In your city or district there are organisations you can join to start networking. Like your local chamber or BNI Chapter and many more.
We are based in Middelburg Mpumalanga, and I used to work for the Middelburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) as the Marketing Officer for 3 years. The MCCI has monthly networking events called a Business Buzz, open to chamber members and other business usually free to attend.
These events have over a 100 business minded people attending. And now as a Business owner I attend these events regularly. I have made few big sales just by meeting new people at the Business Buzz and following up the next day. See the MCCI website on how to join. https://www.middelburginfo.com/
Also your business can join a BNI Chapter, I have been a BNI member for more than 2 years. What is the BNI?
BNI – The World’s Leading Business Networking and Referral Organization

BNI members are business professionals who help each other grow their businesses through their commitment to our principal core value, Givers Gain ®. I have many success story about the BNI as do every member of our chapter, BNI Fireworks. If you want to join a BNI meeting (every Thursday, 7:15am to 9:15am) please contact me or the chapter president. Email @ email@example.com.
3. Video marketing
Video marketing is becoming a big trend to promote your business, but don’t make an advert. We ignore adverts on a daily basis, your videos must be Educational or Empowering or Entertaining.
Educational Videos (example: How To Videos) is one of the best ways to promote your business. Make a video explaining how to use your product. Example is you have a Hardware store, Create DIY videos with products in your store.
Empowering Videos, if you do sponsor a charity or have an employee who excels, create videos telling the story. This is much more powerful than “buy this, buy this, buy this” adverts.
Entertaining Videos, is a bit difficult. But if you having an event with music live performances live stream it on Facebook. Show people what they are missing.
I suggest to start of with the educational videos, because it is the easiest to do and it promotes your product or services directly.
4. Socail Media
Use Social Media. It is a powerful tool you can use to promote your business. If you are not sure if social media is for you, have a look at these stats: According to https://flickerleap.com/south-africa-digitally-2019-stats

Make sure you are listed on Google maps. You will get a lot of potential customers from your Google map listing. And know what your customers are searching for on the search engine. If you google: “marketing Middelburg” guess what business show at the top of Google maps. Make it easy for potential customers to find your business.
